Radio Interview – a first!

I was interviewed by Helen Dwyer today at the Dublin South fm  radio studio at  Dundrum Shopping Centre. The studio is high above  the tree tops and the madding crowd. Spring sunshine had just burned away the sea-mist, so I caught a glimpse of Dublin Bay as I climbed the stairs.

It may sound whimsical, but my nerves vanished with the thought that this must be what being aloft on a sailing ship is like, scanning the horizon from the crow’s nest! Helen put me totally at ease, and Rob, the sound engineer guided me through the the few things I needed to keep in mind to avoid the sound of rattling papers as I  read a selection of poems from ‘In a Hare’s Eye’ (Doire Press).

The interview will go out on 24th April on Rhyme and Reason, on Dublin South FM at 7 pm (93.9fm), and will be streamed simultaneously on dublinsouthfm.ie . It was my first time being interviewed in a radio studio, and Helen made the whole experience really interesting and fun. I’m looking forward to the broadcast, and to listening back later on the podcast. Thanks, Everyone at Dublin South fm!
